CGYG July 2026 Monthly Update

Hello Parents and Students,

A big welcome to our families of rising 7th graders! If you're new to CGYG we meet every Wednesday from 7:00pm-9:00pm and every Sunday from 9:00am-10:30am.

With all the new faces and the annual influx of military families this summer it may be a great opportunity, parents, to talk to your teens about the importance of being welcoming to new students. It's amazing how far a friendly smile and simple hello can go to make someone feel welcome.

June was our busiest month of the year but it was a great time! We had an amazing Youth Servant Sunday and the teens were amazing; 29 of them signed up to make a worship service happen! 

We also celebrated 11 graduating seniors and had our opening week of summer break, "Week of Summer Fun" which was filled with a pool party, bowling, fire-pit and s'mores, and culminating in a day of airsoft on the church grounds. Check out some terrific pictures in the resource corner below.

For July we'll be starting LFIBS in the Psalms on Wednesday nights. LFIBS is our large format inductive bible study training where the teens learn to observe, interpret and apply scripture. It ends with teens volunteering to create their own Bible lesson from what we've learned. 

Sunday mornings we are doing Old Testament Survey for the 7-10th grades and continuing in the parables of Jesus for the upper classmen

July 18: is our one day leader retreat. We'd appreciate your prayers for us!

July 31: Movie Night! We are going to the

opening of Spiderman: Brand New Day. Drop off and pick up at Fairfax Corner, 11900 Palace Way, Fairfax, VA 22030. 4:45 pm drop off and 7:40 pm pick up. Register here!

August 8: Intro to knitting: This is open to any teens wanting to learn but also for teens who already know how to knit who want to join in. Please register here by 31 July so we can order the materials.
